LATA MANGESHKAR ... KAISE KOI JIYE .. Madhuri Dixit
"She had beautiful dreams about her life. On a stormy night, she was raped and as a result she got pregnant. The family and the society rejected her and she decided to leave her home. She worked hard to survive this difficult life with her child. This marvellous song depicts the miseries of such a girl having no destiny".
I started loving this marvellous song from movie Badbaan 1954 (The mast), sung by Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar when I was in school. Lata ji through her Shraddhanjali has revived and enhanced its charm.... This immortal and matchless song was written by Indeevar Ji and composed by TIMIR BARAN, S K PAL. May god bless their souls for giving us such a priceless gem!
I have tried to compile the video the way I visualize this song on Madhuri Dixit. I hope you would like it.
LYRICS AND POSSIBLE TRANSLATION OF THE SONG
Kaise Koi Jiye, Kaise Koi Jiye!
(how one can live .. how one can)
Zehar Hai Zindagi, Utha Toofan Woh!
(The life is like a poison, due to such a bad storm0
Utha Toofan, Aas Ke Sab Bujh Gaye Diiye!
(With the storm, all the hopes have faded)
Kaise Koi Jiye...
Baadal Hai Ya DhuaN, Aag Lagi KahaN!
(Whether it is a cloud or the smoke?)
Jalta Na Ho KahiN, Mera Hi AashiyaaN!
(It may not be due to burning my house)
Angaarey The, Aansoo NahiN Woh Dil Ne Jo Piye!
(that night) it was like the fire balls, not tears which heart absorbed)
Kaise Koi Jiye,
Zehar Hai Zindagi, Utha Toofan Woh
Utha Toofan, Aas Ke Sab Bujh Gaye Diye
Kaise Koi Jiye...
Taarey Na JaaneiN, UNchayii Gagan Ki!
(the stars do not know the height of the sky)
AankheiN Na SamjheiN Gehraayii Mann Ki
(Similarly, the eyes do not understand the depth of the mind)
Gehraayi Mann Ki, Taarey Na JaaneiN
Piyasey Papihey Ne... Aas Thi Baandhii!
(the thirsty bird was hopeful (for the rain)
Ud Gaye Baadal, Aa Gayi Aandhii!
(but the clouds disappeared and the wind storm came in)
Gham Ne Jo Chheda, Dil Ne Hansi Se, Hont Si Liye!
(When the agony tortured, my heart smiled with sealed lips)
Kaise Koi Jiye,
Zehar Hai Zindagi, Utha Toofan Woh
Utha Toofan, Aas Ke Sab Bujh Gaye Diye
Kaise Koi Jiye .....
